**I'm going to post two today in one post... I have some strong feelings about two things and can't seem to find a way to link them... unfortunately**
1. Yesterday a table at my University was set up that said, "Stressed? Free Prayers Here!" How awesome is that. I'm not a super stressed person, but I do know that others are, and everyone can use a prayer. After writing down my prayer on the paper, I proceeded to talk to the couple that was working the table. What an awesome married couple?! They truly were just joyful, and brought a smile to my face.
After a brief conversation and I got my lunch for the day (steak quesadilla), I then began to ponder about my faith and how it makes me feel as a person. Happy was the word that came to mind. I am a happy person. I like to be happy. I like to be around happy people. My God makes me happy. Whether I am just having a quick prayer with Him about a test, singing (loudly) to him through praise music, or just listening to him at night before sleep.
My question to you, the undecided, is do you feel like I do? Are you missing something important in your life, do you have a joy? If so, AWESOME! I'm glad that you have that. I'm glad that you have that joy and happiness in your life. If not, I suggest just going and sitting outside and enJOYing the world around you. Listen to what God is trying to show you. I'm not saying that you should instantly become a Christian believer because you don't have joy. You need to find that joy by yourself. But if you just listen, I guarantee you he will enlighten you somehow.
2. National Day of Prayer... I really have some mixed feelings about this. I'm not saying it is a bad thing. I think it is awesome that there is one. But if you are a prayer, and you do it daily, why do we need a "National" day? Is it wrong as a strong christian to believe this? Why should I be offended that the President didn't do a big Hooplah for a "holiday" that really shouldn't be a holiday. I have started to pray everyday in these past few months. It is my private time with my Lord, and I do not feel the need to pray nationally when I do it anyway. It does not hurt me a bit that the President has decided to not throw a big party for an event that most religious people do daily. Muslims pray, Jews pray, Christians pray, buddhists meditate (I think...), etc. If you "talk" or "listen" to a higher power, I consider that "praying." Am I way off base?
Thanks for the few minutes...
